Forgive Again

As the Sun must set into the dark sea

So my heart forgives what you’ve done to me

While I am here with you, tied with your arms

I forget transgressions . . . you meant no harm

——————–

My eyes may have darkened, and my skin may have paled

I’ve forgotten againĀ  how to make my heart sail

And you have changed: you belong now to me

But I know now you love me for I set your heart free

——————–

A shadow within, I knew as it grew

Has shown me the beauty I had to undo

I drew a black sword from a sheath of fate

Save me my darling before it’s too late

——————–

My heart forgave like the sun has long set

But if hate is born, it may rise again.
